1. AnimalProtocol

   Anactiveanimalprotocolisneededforanyexperimentinvolvinganimals.Iftheexperimentisnotcoveredbytheexistinganimalprotocolsinthelab,youneedtosubmitanewprotocoltoCarolynConnelly(HMS:617-432-0651)andDianneKenney(CBR).OncetheprotocolisapprovedbybothHMSandCBR,youcanstarttheanimalexperiment.Currentlythelabhasoneactiveanimalprotocol:Antibodygenerationandproductionagainstadhesionstructures(protocolnumber03141),expireinMarch2003.Anotherprotocolispending:Roleofadhesionmoleculesinleukocytetrafficking.

2. AnimalFacility

   Animalsaremaintainedatseveralanimalfacilitiesonthecampus.CurrentlyweusetheARCat200longwoodavenue.Togetaccesstothisfacility,youneedtocontactARCofficer(617-432-1283)fortrainingcourse.

3. AnimalPurchaseandExchange

   PattiBement(617-432-2399)attheCenterforAnimalResourcesandComparativeMedicinehandlestheanimalpurchaseandexchange.Forpurchasinganimalsfromthecommercialvendors(CharlesRiver,JacksonLaboratory,Taconic,etc),youneedtosendtheAnimalProcurementRequisitionFormtoPattiBement.Shewillplacetheorderandarrangetheshipment.Fortransferringanimalsfromotherinstitutions,youneedtosubmitnecessarydocuments(animalhealthreport,etc)toPattiBementforapproval.
