Ourtemperaturecontrolnotonlypreventsthetissueinthechamberfrombecomingdenatured(byhightemperature)butitalsoassistsinpulsingthemicrowaveeffectinsmallpreciseportions.Thetemperaturecontrolhasadirecteffectonthemagnetron(themicrowavegenerator)asitallowstheunittoswitchonandoffinthemostefficientwayatthepreseteffectlevel.
Theseteffectisadjustableatanytimeeitherbeforeorduringarun.Thisaidsinthebalanceofthemicrowaveloadandthecontentofthemicrowaveabsorber.ItshouldbenotedthatthepenetrationrateandprocesstimesareinfluencedbythepresenceofmicrowaverADIationinthechamberandforthisreasonitisimperativethattheeffectratebeadjustableatanygiventimeduringarun.
Insidethechamberthereisamanifoldforupto5tubeswhichallowsyoutoachievebubblemixinginfrom1-5containersatonce.Thereisabuiltinairpumpthatfacilitatesthemixing,avoidingtemperaturegradientsinthemixingprocess.TheseadjustablebubblemixersmaketheEMS-820idealfordecalcification.

Theovenchamberismadeentirelyofstainlesssteelanditisveryeasytoclean.Itisextremelyresistanttoallstainingsolutionsthatareusuallyemployedinhistologyandlikefields.Theflooroftheunit,whichcoverstherotatorcavity,isaglassfiberreinforcedsiliconeplatewhichservesasathermalinsulatorandwillnotabsorbmicrowaves.Theplateistotallychemicalresistant.
TheEMS-820isdesignedforeasyoperationandmaintenance.AllofthecontrolscanbesetwithonehandandareeasilyaccessIBLeallowingforchangesatanytime.Anadjustablethermalprobeencasedinawhite"PTFE"holder(amicrowavetransparentmaterial)comeswiththeunit.Theprobecanbesetatdifferentheightstoaccommodatealldifferenttypesofcontainersandvolumesofliquid.Attachedtotheprobeisanadaptortoholdoneofthemixingtubes;thisisimportantbecausetheliquidwhichisregulatedbytheThermostatneedstobemixedwelltoavoidtemperaturegradients.Theprobeautomaticallymeasurestheexistingtemperatureanddisplaysit.
Theunithasabuiltinreflectorinsidethechamberwhichevenlydistributesthemicrowaves.Arotatorisbuiltintotheunit,aswell,toprevent"Hot-Spots"fromformingevenforverysmallvolumes(e.g.;reagentdropsonglassslides).
