PKB alpha (AKT1) is a member of the PKB family, which is responsive to cell activation. The anti-AKT1 antibody was raised with a peptide derived from the C-terminal sequence of human AKT1 and affinity purified with the same peptide as the affinity matrix.

Protein kinase B or AKT (PKB/Akt) is a serine/threonine kinase. In mammals three highly homologous members of AKT are PKB alpha (AKT1), PKB beta (AKT2) and PKB gamma (AKT3). This enzyme is involved in important cellular processes such as glucose metabolism, cell proliferation, apoptosis, transcription and cell migration.
