Glycogen Synthase Kinase 3 (GSK3) belongs to the serine/threonine family of protein kinases thatare involved in intermediary metabolism. GSK3 serine kinase is encoded by two related genes called GSK3A (51kD) and GSK3B (46kD). GSK3 plays a role in intracellular signaling pathways. GSK3 is implicated in the control of several regulatory proteins including glycogen synthase and transcription factors. It also plays a role in the WNT and PI3K signaling pathways.
