Wehypothesizethatthedyeassumesanon-fluorescentstructurethatcanbeswitchedtoafluorescentstructurebyUVexcitation.Mercuryarclampexcitationofthedyeusingotherfiltersets(FITC,rhodamine)ordyeexcitationwitha405nmlaserdoesnotactivatefluorescence.LysosomalfluorescencefadesseveralminutesafterUVexposure,butcanbere-activatedinthesamecellsmultipletimesbyexposuretoUVlight.ThereforethedyeprovidesanoveltoolforUV-activated,reversIBLefluorescenceimagingoflysosomes.Seetheproductprotocolunderthedownloadstabformoreinformation.
