PrimaPure Human Smooth Muscle Cells are derived from tunica intima and tunica media of normal human, fibrous plaque-free coronary arteries, pulmonary arteries, and aorta. They are cryopreserved at the second passage and can be cultured and propagated at least 16 population doublings.Cells are characterized positive for expression of smooth muscle cell specific α-actin.
Smooth Muscle Cells are found in many parts of the body, where they work by controlling the movement of blood, food, or air. Many studies were carried out on cultured smooth muscle cells from various tissues. Lipid uptake, synthesis and metabolism in cultured vascular muscle used as an experimental model for atherosclerotic lesions that have been the focus of studies carried out since the late 1950s. Descriptions of other aspects of the involvement of smooth muscle in the causes of atherosclerosis include the proliferation and synthesis of the components of the extracellular matrix.

* Each Complete System contains an ampoule of cryopreserved cells (> 500,000 cells), 500 ml growth medium, and a Subculture Reagent Kit (including 100 ml each of HEPES Buffered Saline Solution, trypsin/EDTA, and trypsin neutralizing solution). |
StorageCells are cryopreserved immediately after purification and delivered on dry ice. Place cryovials immediately in liquid nitrogen upon arrival. Store the growth medium at 4°C in the dark. Store the subculture reagent at -20°C upon receipt and at 4°C upon thawing.
