Fibrinogen Deficient Plasma

Fibrinogen Deficient Plasma is manufactured from normal citrated human plasma, defibrinated under controlled conditions using purified human thrombin.

Only the highest quality citrated plasma is used as starting material and in many cases the parent plasma is available as control material.  Plasma products are typically buffered with the addition of HEPES to 20mM final concentration and are available in 1ml vials to litre quantities.  Our Fibrinogen Deficient Plasma can be used for further manufacturing or research use only applications.

Presentation:  Frozen Fibrinogen Deficient Plasma

Preparation/Handling:  Thaw 1 ml vials in 37^oC water bath for 5 minutes; for bulk volumes, thawing time will be dependent on bottle size.

Storage and Stability:  Plasma is shipped frozen and should be stored below -60^oC. Product is stable until date stated on vial label when stored at -60^oC. Once thawed, plasma is stable for 4 hours at 2-8^oC in original vial.

Description of Fibrinogen

Most of the fibrinogen in the circulation consists of 2 copies of each chain (Aα2, Bβ2, γA2), but in normal plasma approximately 10% of the fibrinogen molecules contain one γA chain and one variant γ chain (termed γ′), in which the c-terminal AGDV residues are replaced with the amino acid sequence VRPEHPAETEYDSLYPEDDL.  This variant fibrinogen is commonly referred to as fibrinogen gamma prime (γA/γ′) but has also been called fibrinogen 2 or peak 2 fibrinogen because it elutes separately from fibrinogen 1 (γA2) by ion exchange chromatography.  Residues 414-427 of the γ′ chain of fibrin gamma prime (contain a high-affinity binding site for exosite II of thrombin, which allows the active site of bound thrombin to remain available to interact with substrates while demonstrating resistance to heparin mediated inhibition by antithrombin_1-4.
