ADAM19,alsoknownasmeltrinß,wasfirstidentifiedinmusclecellsandlaterexpressedinothertissues(e.g.heart,lungandbone).ThecatalyticactivityofADAM19hasbeenexploredbytheoverexpressionincellsandbypurifyingrecombinantlyexpressedsolubleformsoftheectodomainorthepro-andmetalloproteinasedomains.ADAM19hasanimportantroleduringcardiovascularmorphogenesis.
