Recombinant Human YOD1 Protein, CF Summary
Recombinant Human YOD1 is a Ubiquitin-specific deconjugating enzyme. Reaction conditions will need to be optimized for each specific application. We recommend an initial Recombinant Human YOD1 concentration of 0.1-1 μM.

Carrier Free
CF stands for Carrier Free (CF). We typically add Bovine Serum Albumin (BSA) as a carrier protein to our recombinant proteins.Adding a carrier protein enhances protein stability, increases shelf-life, and allows the recombinant protein to be stored at a more dilute concentration. The carrier free version does not contain BSA.
In general, we advise purchasing the recombinant protein with BSA for use in cell or tissue culture, or as an ELISA standard. In contrast, the carrier free protein is recommended for applications, in which the presence of BSA could interfere.

Background: YOD1
OTU1 (Ubiquitin thioesterase OTU1, also known as YOD1) is a deubiquitinating enzyme of the ovarian tumor (otubain, also known as "Otu") family. YOD1 is part of a multi-protein complex containing p97, suggesting this deubiquitinase may function in the endoplasmic reticulum-associated degradation (ERAD) of misfolded lumenal proteins. A possible role for YOD1 is the trimming of polyubiquitin chains from substrates to facilitate their threading through the VCP/p97 pore. YOD1 is capable of hydrolyzing K6-, K11-, K27-, K29-, and K33-linked polyubiquitin chains.
