This real-time PCR kit allows rapid, sensitive detection of E. coli as well as other Enterobacteria. The Enterobacteriaceae (rplP gene) Quantitative PCR Kit detects and quantifies bacteria in the Enterobacteriaceae family using real-time PCR analysis of the rplP (50S ribosomal protein L16) gene. This economical kit allows faster detection than conventional methods requiring culturing, and is useful for pathogen surveillance in the food and environmental fields. The real-time PCR reagent included in this kit, TB Green Premix Ex Taq GC, uses an intercalating green dye and is suitable for amplification of sequences with high GC content, allowing detection of a wide variety of Enterobacteriaceae strains. Species detected using this kit include Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Citrobacter freundii, and Enterobacter aerogenes, among others. Consult the user manual for experimental examples showing use of this product with a range of food samples including meat (fresh and ground chicken, pork, and beef) and vegetables (sprouts, lettuce, and onions). This kit is designed for detection of both viable and non-viable Enterobacteriaceae cells.
