Ammonium Persulfate (APS) and TEMED catalyze the polymerization of acrylamide solutions into gel matrices. These gels are then used to separate a variety of macro molecules by size in the presence of an electric field. Optimal polymeri-zation requires the daily preparation of fresh APS stock solution since APS is unstable in aqueous solution. GenDEPOT’s pre-measured APS/TEMED Polyme-rization Tablets provide an ultra-convenient way to prepare a combined stocksolution of APS and TEMED that completely eliminates the need for frequent weighing of APS.
The stock solution remains stable at room temperature forone week. The tablets offer constant ratios of APS and TEMED to ensure consis-tent polymerization and reproducible results from gel to gel.
