TheBCR/ABL1/ASS1tri-colorfusionprobe,locatedat22q11.2(BCR)and9q34.1(ABL1/ASS1),isusedtodetectthereciprocalt(9;22)(q34;q11.2)involvingtheBCRandABL1genes.Thisabnormalityisobservedin~95%ofcasesofchronicmyeloidleukemia(CML),~20%ofcasesofadultacutelymphoblasticleukemia(ALL),~4%ofcasesofchildhoodALL,and1~3%ofacutemyeloidleukemia(AML).TheASS1probeisusefulindetectingdeletionsflankingthebreakpointonthederivativechromosome9whichmaybeassociatedwithalessfavorableprognosis.
