RBPMS(RNAbindingproteinwithmultiplesplicing),alsoknownasHERMES,containsoneRRM(RNArecognitionmotif)domainandbelongstotheRRMfamilyofRNA-bindingproteins.RBPMSexistsasmultiplealternativelysplicedisoformsandisthoughttobindRNA,possIBLyplayingaroleinRNA-relatedevents,suchastranscriptionandtranslation.RNA-bindingproteinsthatarespecifictoretinalganglioncells(RGCs)havebeenpreviouslyidentifiedasexcellentMarkersforRGCs(Kwongetal.,2010).RecentfindingsshowthatantibodiesagainstRBPMSarerobustreagentsthatexclusivelyidentifyRGCsinmultiplemammalianspecies(Rodriguezetal.2014)
