A speciality solvent for polar polymers and organic synthesis.1,2It has also found use in biochemistry to solubilize peptides and and peptide intermediates with high solubilizing potential.3,4It’s been used inthe absenceof catalysts to allow electrophilic activation of hydrogen peroxide toward epoxidation of alkenes and the Baeyer−Villiger oxidation of ketones.5Employed as a fluorinated solvent to enhance the efficiency of rhodium(I)-catalyzed [4+2] intramolecular cycloaddition of ether-tethered alkynyl dienes and [5+2] cycloaddition of alkynyl vinylcyclopropanes.6
