InVitro

Hydrocortisone(50nM)showsadose-dependentdown-regulationofGRtranscriptinhCMEC/D3cells.Hydrocortisonesupplementationoftheserum-reducedcelldifferentiationmediumleadstoasignificantincreaseinTERacrossthehCMEC/D3monolayer[1].Hydrocortisone-treatedDendriticcells(DCs)showadecreasedexpressionofMHCIImolecules,thecostimulatorymoleculeCD86,andtheDC-specificMarkerCD83,aswellasastronglyreducedIL-12secretion.Hydrocortisone-treatedDCsinhibitproductionofIFN-γbutinduceanincreasedreleaseofIL-4andnochangeinIL-5[2].Hydrocortisonereducespostischemicoxidativestress,perfusionpressure,andtransudateformation.Hydrocortisoneinhibitspostischemicsheddingofsyndecan-1,heparansulfate,andhyaluronanasisreleaseofhistaminefromresidentmastcells[3].
