AntiApolipoproteinC-IIIantibodyrecognizesthegeneproductofAPOC.ApolipoproteinC-IIIisaproteincomponentofverylowdensitylipoprotein(VLDL).APOC3inhibitslipoproteinlipaseandhepaticlipase;itisthoughttoinhibithepaticuptakeoftriglyceride-richparticles.TheAPOA1,APOC3andAPOA4genesarecloselylinkedinbothratandhumangenomes.TheA-IandA-IVgenesaretranscribedfromthesamestrand,whiletheA-1andC-IIIgenesareconvergentlytranscribed.AnincreaseinapoC-IIIlevelsinducesthedevelopmentofhypertriglyceridemia.Thisantibodyissuitableforcardiovascularresearch.

Anti-ApolipoproteinantibodieshavebeenusedforindirecttrappingELISAforquantitationofantigeninserumusingastandardcurve,immunoprecipitation,immunohistochemistry,andforwesternblottingforhighlysensitivequalitativeanalysis.Whenperformingimmunoblottingassays-donotblockwithblotto.BlottoformulationstendtocontainapoLipoproteinTypeC-IIIandwillneutralizeantibodyactivity.
Purity/Specifity
Thisproducthasbeenpreparedbyimmunoaffinitychromatographyusingimmobilizedantigensfollowedbyextensivecross-adsorptionagainstotherapoLipoproteinsandhumanserumproteinstoremoveanyunwantedspecificities. Typicallylessthan1%crossreactivityagainstothertypesofapoLipoproteinwasdetectedbyELISAagainstpurifiedstandards. ThisantibodyreactswithhumanapoLipoproteinC-IIIandhasnegligIBLecross-reactivitywithTypeA-I,A-II,B,C-I,C-II,EandJapoLipoproteins. Specificcrossreactionofanti-apoLipoproteinantibodieswithantigensfromotherspecieshasnotbeendetermined. Non-specificcrossreactionofanti-apoLipoproteinantibodieswithotherhumanserumproteinsisnegligible.
