Background
Anti-glutamatedehydrogenaseantibodyrecognizestheglutamatedehydrogenaseprotein.Glutamatedehydrogenaseisanenzymethatispresentinthemitochondriaofeukaryotes.Glutamatedehydogenaseplaysaroleinureasynthesisbyconvertingglutamatetoa-ketoglutarate,andviceversa.Typically,thea-ketoglutaratetoglutamatereactiondoesnotoccurinmammalsasglutamatedehydrogenaseequilibriumfavourstheproductionofammoniaanda-ketoglutarate.Glutamatedehydrogenasealsohasaveryhighaffinityforammonia.Thereforetoxiclevelsofammoniawouldhavetobepresentinthebodyforthereversereactiontoproceed.Inbacteria,theammoniaisassimilatedtoaminoacidsviaglutamateandamidotransferases.Inplants,theenzymecanworkineitherdirectiondependingonenvironmentandstress.TransgenicplantsexpressingmicrobialGLDHsareimprovedintolerancetoherbicide,waterdeficit,andpathogeninfections.Anti-glutamatedehydrogenaseantibodyissuitableforresearchersinCellBIOLOGyandImmunology.
