BackgroundThe antibody JC70A primarily is used for the immunohistological detection of endothelial cells in Formalin-fixed tissues. Positive reactions are expected as well in normal as in transformed tissue. The antibody frequently is used for evaluation of angiogenesis in proliferating tumours (e.g. in mamma carcinoma, colorectal carcinoma and lung cancer). Platelet Endothelial Cell Adhesion Molecule 1 (PECAM-1) or CD31 belongs to a group of transmembrane glycoproteins of the immunoglobulin super-family of adhesion molecules. It is exprimed predominantly by megakaryocytes, platelets, granulocytes, B-cell precursors and endothelial cells. It plays an important role in adhesion of leucocytes to blood vessel endothelia and for the cell migration through the vessel walls. Human CD31, Formalin-resistant epitope on a 130 kDa glycoprotein chain, reactivity confirmed on V. Internat. Workshop on Leucocyte Typing (Boston 1993).

Caution*These antibodies are intended for in vitro research use only. They must not be used for clinical diagnostics and not for in vivo experiments in humans or animals. ** The preservative sodium azide is known to be poisonous and potentially hazardous to health. It should be handled only by trained staff. Despite of the product's low azide concentration it must be handled with care. Dispose according to regional rules!
