Kinaseofembryonicstemcells(Kos1)isanon-receptorproteintyrosinekinase(NRPTK)andanewmemberoftheAckfamilyofNRPTKs.Kos1isaubiquitouslyexpressed47-kDaproteinwithautotyrosinekinaseactivitythatisdevelopmentallyregulatedduringembryogenesis.Kos1isalsoupregulatedfollowingIL3withdrawalfromfactor-dependentmurineNSF/N1.H7cellsthatundergoapoptosis,suggestingaroleingrowthinhibition.DatasupportanegativeregulatoryroleforKos1inregulatingtheRas-Raf1-MAPKgrowthpathwaybyamechanismthatrequiresitsautotyrosinekinaseactivity.
