ThisantibodyrecognizeshumanRad51,a37kDproteinthatinteractswithBRCA1.Thisinteractionisimportantfortumorsuppression.BRCA2andRad51havealsobeenshowntointeractviatheBRCrepeatslocatedwithexon11ofBRCA2.Whentheserepeatsaredeleted,theinteractionislost,andcellsbecomehypersensitivetoDNAdamagecausedbymethylmethanesulfonate(MMS).
