RecombinanthumanVEGF-C,lackingtheN-andC-terminalextensionsandcontainingonlythemiddleVEGFhomologydomain,formsprimarilynon-covalentlylinkeddimers.ThisproteinisaligandforbothVEGFR-2/KDRandVEGFR-3/FLT-4.SinceVEGFR-3isstronglyexpressedinlymphaticendothelialcells,ithasbeenpostulatedthatVEGF-Cisinvolvedintheregulationofthegrowthand/ordifferentiationoflymphaticendothelium.AlthoughrecombinanthumanVEGF-Cisalsoamitogenforvascularendothelialcells,itismuchlesspotentthanVEGF-A.Itisalsoapotenttrophicfactorforneuralstemcells. see-doi:10.1038/nn1646.
