SMAD2mediatesthesignaloftheTGF-beta,andthereforeregulatesmultiplecellularprocesses,suchascellproliferation,apoptosis,anddifferentiation.SMAD2isrecruitedtotheTGF-betareceptorsthroughitsinteractionwiththeSMADanchorforreceptoractivation(SARA)protein. TGF-beta1actsonadjacentstromalcellstoturnonSMAD2signallingthatcouldleadtostromaldecidualization.SMAD2isthedownstreamsignaltransducersofTGF-beta-1inhumandentalpulpcells.
