Morethan18,000oftheseMarkerswerediscoveredthroughsequencingreducedrepresentationlibrarieswiththeIlluminaGenomeAnalyzerIIx.Asetof600SNPswereidentifiedbyBACendsequencingandvalidatedwithIlluminaGoldenGateGenotypingAssays,forover403animalsfrom23breeds.TheremainingSNPswerederivedfromthedraftovinegenome.
TheOvineSNP50BeadChipprovidesuniformgenome-widecoveragewithanestimatedonemarkerper46kbonaverage.TheBeadChipprovideshighcallrates,allowsforflexIBLecontentdeployment,andenablesthedetectionandmeasurementofcopynumbervariation.
