Cell Information:
Human Epidermal Keratinocytes (HEK) are primary cells isolated from normal human neonatal foreskin or adult skin. HEK is a suitable in vitro model for dermal toxicology tests in screening new skin products, and for developing dermal skin substitutes. HEK has been used in the following applications:
- Epidermal model generation
- Skin cancer
- Toxicity (skin absorption studies)
- Differentiation models (Ca++ free medium needed)
- Epidermal disease research
- Dermatitis/eczema, psoriasis, sebaceous cysts, folliculitis, and impetigo
- Dermal burns
- Wound healing
The Transfection Reagent:
Transfection of primary cells, such as HEK, is a problem in the laboratory routine and further in tissue engineering and gene therapy. Most methods working effectively for cell lines in culture fail to transfect primary cells.
Human Epidermal Keratinocyte (HEK, NHEK) Avalanche™ Transfection Reagent is a new, proprietary solution specifically designed for transfection on HEK. The proprietary formulation of lipids and polymersensures the highest possible transfection efficiencies and viabilities for HEK. No other transfection reagents can match the efficiency, convenience, and gentleness of Human Epidermal Keratinocyte (HEK, NHEK) Avalanche™ Transfection Reagent for transfection on HEK. Features:
- Specifically optimized to deliver nucleic acids into HEK
- Highest efficiency to ensure experimental success
- Lowest Cellular Toxicity-maintain cell density and reduce experimental biases
- Much less reagent needed for each transfection: 0.5 ml is able to transfect about 1000 wells of 24-well plate
- Easy-to-use protocol: Just mix nucleic acids with the reagent to form complexes and simply add the mixture to cells
- Suitable for Reverse Transfection
- Compatible with transfection in any plate formats
- Reproducible: due to highly controlled chemical synthesis of each of the ingredients, the reagent forms uniformly sized complex particles with nucleic acids. With optimized protocol, our reagent will ensure the reproducible highest transfection results.
