3-Oxo deoxycholic acid is a human metabolite. It’s a derivative of 7-deoxycholic acid in which the hydroxyl group at the 3rd position is substituted with a keto group as a result of formal oxidation of the acid.

Deoxycholic acid is one of the main secondary bile acids in the human organism, and it’s amongst the most common products of bacterial metabolism in the intestines.
