Overview:
Diacylglycerol kinase delta (DGKD) is a member of DGK family type II which have a pleckstrin homology domain instead of the EF-hand motif in addition to two cysteine-rich regions (C1 domain) in the regulatory domain. These enzymes catalyze the phosphorylation of diacylglycerol, a fundamental lipid second messenger that activates numerous proteins such as protein kinase C isoforms and RAS guanyl nucleotide-releasing proteins and some transient receptor potential channels.(1) DGK delta is involved in cell proliferation and glucose metabolism, and has been associated with certain cancers, diabetes and epilepsy.(2)
