| Scientific Background: | Gc-globulin is a 50kDa plasma protein produced in the liver, with a concentration in human plasma of approximately 400 µg/mL. Because vitamin D is amongst its ligands, Gc-globulin is also known as vitamin D-binding protein. Gc-globulin is also part of the actin scavenging system, binding and removing monomeric actin from the blood stream. |
