Pyrrolidino PAF C-16 is a synthetic analog of PAF C-16 with hypotensive action [1][2].
Plateletactivatingfactor(PAF;C16), aphospholipidmediator ofinflammation, issecretedbyseveralcelltypesincludingarterialendothelialcells, andcanactivatepolymorphonuclearleucocytesandmonocytesviaspecificcellsurface receptors. PAF also stimulates the production of active oxygen species by human monocyte - derived macrophages. PAF have potent hypotensive activity. C16-PAF was about three times more potent than C18-PAF in the activity of releasing serotonin [1][2].
Pyrrolidino PAF C-16, a synthetic analog of PAF C-16, is a potent mediator of PAF-like activities, including hypotension and platelet aggregation [1][2].
In male Wistar rats, Pyrrolidino PAF C-16 dose-dependently decreased blood pressure and the duration of the hypotension was also dose-dependent. Pyrrolidino PAF C-16 was 3-10 times more potent than natural PAF in the hypotensive activity [1][2].
