Description: LALF, Peptide
The name of \"Limulus” is derived from a scientific name of the horseshoe crab; Limulus polyphemus. Four species of horseshoe crabs exist in limited regions of the world. The hemolymph amebocyte is the circulating blood cell of the horseshoe crab. Levin and Bang found out that endotoxin (LPS) induces coagulation of the lysate of hemolymph caused by an anti-LPS factor. Limulus anti-LPS factor (LALF) is a naturally occurring horseshoe crab derived protein that is both bactericidal for gram-negative bacteria and capable of neutralizing LPS. The cyclic LALF-peptide, amino acids 31-52, binds lipid A and neutralizes LPS in vivo and in vitro.Specifications:

Lyophilized, purified LALF-peptide from limulus anti-LPS factor protein in PBS. The exact peptide amount is indicated on the label. Reconstitute the vial by pipetting sterile, endotoxin free phosphate buffered saline. |
For use in biological assays dilutions have to be made according to the amounts protein to be inactivated.Further dilutions should be made by using protein stabilized phosphate buffered saline, pH 7. (Never use fresh serum/plasma). Be aware: endotoxin will bind LALF-peptide. |
Lyophilized product should be stored at 4 °C. The stock solution should be stored in aliquots at -70 °C in polypropylene tubes. LALF-peptide stock solution should never be thawed more than once. Repeated freeze and thaw cycles will cause loss of LALF-peptide activity. Under recommended storage conditions, product is stable for more than one year. |
