GENERAL INFORMATION:
Axin was originally identified as the product of the mouse gene called ?fused? or fu (renamed Axin), and has since been shown to play a crucial role in controlling axis formation during embryonic development. Axin1 is characterized to be a tumor suppressor and numerous gene mutations have been identified throughout Axin1 from a number of different cancers. Axin can identify in a mouse mutant strain, created by random integration of a transgene. Also, Axin1 plays an important role in the formation of the embryonic neural axis. Recently, it was reported that Axin is found in mitotic spindles and centrosomes. |
