DESCRIPTION:MLL1 Complex is a complex catalyzing the transcription-activating methylation of histone H3 lysine-4 and comprising a catalytic, SET domain-containing subunit, MLL1, plus the subunits of an activity-enhancing sub-complex—WDR5, RbBP5, Ash2L and DPY-30 (2 copies). MLL1 gene rearrangements that include the SET domain (partial tandem duplications) occur in 5-10% of acute myeloid leukemias (AMLs) and wild-type MLL1 can also be required for leukemic transformation by MLL1 fusion proteins, suggesting inhibition of MLL1 methyltransferase activity as a strategy for anti-leukemia therapy.
