Thespecificityoftheantiserumwasevaluatedusingamodelsystemofgelatin-indoleplugsbyamethodsimilartopublishedprocedures(SchipperandTilders,1983).Resultsshowedthatthe5-HIAAantibodydosedependentlystained5-HIAAbutdidnotstainanyconcentrationof5-HTor5-HTP.Theantiserumwasalsotestedbypre-adsorptionat25µg/mLwithvariousBSAconjugates.Whilepre-adsorptionwith5-HIAAconjugatecompletelyeliminatesimmunolabeling,pre-adsorptionwithconjugatesof5-HT,5-HTPanddopaminehadnoeffectonstainingintensityordistributionofstain.
