PAD2isamemberofthepeptidylargininedeiminasefamilyofenzymes,whichcatalyzethepost-translationaldeiminationofproteinsbyconvertingarginineresiduesintocitrullinesinthepresenceofcalciumions.PAD2haspeptidylargininedeiminaseactivityagainstsyntheticsubstrates(1).PAD2ismainlyexpressedinthecentralnervoussystem,skeletalmuscle,spinalcord,cerebrum,cerebellum,andsuBMAxillarygland(2).PAD2playaroleintheonsetandprogressionofneurodegenerativehumandisorders,includingAlzheimerdiseaseandmultiplesclerosis,andithasalsobeenimplicatedinglaucomapathogenesis.
