Overview:
PLCγ1 or phospholipase C gamma 1 plays an important role in the intracellular transduction of message from receptor-mediated tyrosine kinase activation. PLCγ1 catalyzes the formation of two second-messenger molecules inositol 1, 4, 5-trisphosphate and diacylglycerol from phosphatidylinositol 4, 5-bisphosphate. PLCγ1 is a major substrate for heparin-binding growth factor 1 activated tyrosine kinase. PLCγ1 inhibits growth factor receptor-mediated invasion of breast and prostate tumor cells and is a physiological guanine nucleotide exchange factor for the nuclear GTPase PIKE (1).
